Carnegie Science Center Fab Labs
Kelvin worked with the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh to present several Fab Lab workshops for children in school and after school programs. Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center, which opened in 2015 with funding from Chevron, is part of a global network of more than 500 Fab Labs. Kelvin spoke about the importance of STEM education, outlined how often this curriculum is applied to business and lifestyle practices, and led students in various workshops highlighting STEM disciplines.
STEM Zone at Super Bowl City
Kelvin teamed up with Chevron, the official “STEM Education Partner” for the Super Bowl Host Committee to host the Chevron STEM Zone at Super Bowl City during the week leading up to Super Bowl 50. The Chevron STEM Zone is an interactive space that demonstrates how STEM fuels innovation all around us, and specifically within the game of football. Fans could throw a football and measure the arc, accuracy and velocity of their pass as part of the interactive STEM Zone. In celebration of Super Bowl 51 and their ongoing commitment to education, Chevron funded over $100,000 in classroom supply projects on DonorsChoose.org in the Houston area. In his role as Chevron brand ambassador, Kelvin surprised two Houston schools with these donations.
